From captive agent to your independent advocate
My name is Dennis Zav, and I've spent my entire career in one business: helping people protect what matters most. In 2014 I got my insurance license and started out at Allstate, learning the fundamentals of coverage, service, and what it really means to be there for a client when they need you.
In 2016, I opened my first Allstate agency. In 2019, I launched a Farmers agency, and in 2020 I opened my own brokerage. I even went back to Allstate in 2022 — but through all of it, I kept running into the same wall: as a captive agent tied to a single carrier, I could only offer clients what that one company sold, whether or not it was the best fit or the best price.
In 2024, everything clicked. I realized I could keep helping customers at the highest level without being locked into one carrier. So I founded ZAV Agency and got appointed with every carrier I possibly could — so I can shop the market on your behalf and secure the best coverage at the best price, every single time.
With 12 years of experience — and still learning every day — my goal is simple: help each customer the very best I can. I personally train every agent on our team with the knowledge I've built over the years, so they can deliver that same level of care to their own clients.
As ZAV Agency grows, we add new carriers all the time and help clients in every way possible — personal auto, home, business, and commercial coverage. We are licensed in multiple states so we can extend that same service well beyond Florida. And because our team are licensed health insurance brokers, we'll soon be offering Medicare and ACA health plans, too.
